Drama

The Drama and Theatre Department at Prince Avenue Christian School is designed to encourage students to discover and develop the talents God has given them. A Drama Club is offered in the Fine Arts enrichment programs for grades 4th-5th. In Middle School, students are given the option to choose the Performing Arts or Drama class as an elective. Students receive an introduction to the basics of acting, including pantomime, improvisation, characterization, vocal projection, and auditioning. The faculty encourages all students to become involved whether they desire to be on the stage or behind the scenes. Costuming, theatrical makeup and set design are also required curriculum for our Speech and Drama class in the High School. PRINCE seeks to encourage and nurture young performers to articulate their acting techniques and apply them through a dramatic production. Productions have included Arsenic and Old Lace, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Oklahoma!, Seussical, The Wizard of Oz, and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.
Elementary Drama Club
An exciting opportunity is available for elementary students who are interested in theater.
Students in the 4th – 5th grades are encouraged to participate in a drama club that meets after school during the week. Students in the drama club learn about essential acting skills, stage presence, improvisation, and other aspects of stage performance. They also discover the basics of theatrical costumes, sets, props, and makeup. This learning experience culminates in a large production during the semester when the students have the opportunity to demonstrate their new found theatrical skills and knowledge.
