High School Science Teacher

Prince Avenue Christian School is currently accepting applications for a full time position of high school science teacher.

 

Overview:  The primary function of this position is to teach biology to ninth grade students, AP biology to eleventh and twelfth grade students, and to foster the students’ enthusiasm for science. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct instruction to students under the leadership of the science department head and high school principal.
  • Teach from a Biblical worldview and serve as a spiritual mentor to students.
  • Prepare course syllabus and curriculum .
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop a rapport with students that motivates and fosters enthusiasm.
  • Creatively integrate technology in the classroom to enhance teaching.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and school goals.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress.
  • Consistently communicate information on student progress to students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.

 

Qualifications: 

  • A committed Christian who is active in an evangelical church ministry .
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in a science related discipline is required.
  • High school teaching experience required.
  • Teaching AP biology preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in the use of ​Smartboard, Moodle, and iPad technology preferred.
  • Knowledge of RenWeb school management software preferred.

Director of Educational Support Services 

Work Schedule: 11-month position, 40 hours/week plus occasional school meetings, activities, etcetera

 

Supervisor: Dean of Academic Affairs 

 

Summary:  The Director of Educational Support Services (ESS) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ESS Center in support of the school’s K4-12 grade operations. The Director of ESS is responsible for the following Instructional Programs, Research, Supervision, and Public Relations/Counselor duties and responsibilities.

 

Instructional Programs:

  • Lead the ESS center in a manner consistent with the Christian philosophy, goals, and objectives of the school.
  • Recruit, train, and retain highly qualified tutors and learning specialists
  • Design tutoring plans for students based upon medical, psychological, and scholastic reports/testing data to maximize student learning.
  • Develop and manage communication plans between parents, students, and tutors.
  • Schedule, assign, and manage students and tutor effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide professional development to the school’s faculty and staff on changes in ESS processes and procedures as required or as requested by the academic dean

 

Research:

  • Coordinate with the academic dean and lower/middle/high school principals to ensure the quality and efficiency of ESS for students are optimized
  •  Remain current on changes within the ESS field and implement changes consist with the school’s mission and as resources allow
  • ​ Proactively identify, record, and report revisions to school related manuals and accreditation documents 

 

Supervision:

  • Provide spiritual leadership for the ESS staff, students, and parents. 
  • Attend morning devotions and lead devotions as assigned.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the ESS center and establish individual programs for improvement for staff and students consistent with the school’s guidelines. 
  • Foster effective school and home communication by providing opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss pupil progress and other matters of mutual concern.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement ESS students’ learning modifications and accommodations.
  • Serve in a leadership capacity during safety drills and actual emergency situation.

 

Public Relations/Counselor: 

  • Present the school and its programs in a positive manner to the community. 
  • Proactively address questions and grievances as they arise.
  • Promote unity among members of ESS center staff/tutors, students, and parents.  
  • Attend lower/middle/high school parent/teacher conferences as requested by teachers, principals, or the academic dean.  
  • Attend back to school orientations or Previews (open houses) as requested. 
  • Serve as a spiritual mentor and counselor to ESS students and staff. 
  • Provide a “listening ear” for parents or students to discuss personal or academic concerns.

 

Qualifications:  

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) 
  • Special Education certification preferred 

 

Experience: 

  • Special Education experience preferred
  • Ability to interpret and design student learning based on medical, psychological, and scholastic reports/tests o Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Mail, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Proven ability to re-prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Literacy in Renaissance Web (-Renweb) preferred

High School History Teacher
